ABOUT
“THE SUN”
The El Paso Sun
Girls Basketball Club is a
premier youth all girls basketball program focusing on
teaching the fundamentals of basketball. EPSun has
become a well known and respected AAU club in the nation.
EPSun creates a stepping-stone for young athletes that want
to improve their basketball skills.
Our program
focuses on three main principles; teamwork,
attitude,
and commitment.
While teaching strong
fundamentals and assertive play, we prepare athletes
mentally and physically for AAU, NCAA, and USSA basketball
competition. EPSun provides the opportunity to compete at
the national level while offering the possibility of
landing college scholarships through national exposure at
the most prominent tournaments in the country.
Our main goal
is to prepare the athletes
for High School basketball. Some of our first group of
girls yielded Varsity positions while others yielded Junior
Varsity positions in their freshman year. A number of
girls have signed with colleges and others are getting
prospected. EPSun is a
12-month camp that teaches fundamental basketball skills in
a well structured and disciplined environment. EPSun
is composed of girl teams belonging to various age groups,
ranging from 8 & under through the Varsity level. The
younger athletes participate in our “Intensity”
fundamentals program and compete in local leagues and
tournaments while the older athletes travel to the
competitive events. EPSun strongly believes in maintaining
a strong bond with the local community leagues and an
environment where we carefully choose athletes/parents.
Your daughter will leave EPSun with the fundamental skills
and the necessary tools to make her a successful High
School athlete. Athletes move on to successful High
School careers where they exhibit the fundamental base they
developed with EPSun. We are very proud of our
fundamental educational program, which has proven to be a
very successful one.
Our
program is dedicated
to treating all athletes fairly, and giving each individual
athlete an opportunity to improve their basketball skills.
As a basketball player with the EPSun, it will require a
strong commitment to the game, the team, the coach and the
teammates. It is important that everyone involved
understands that this commitment is made in order for our
athletes to become the best basketball players they can be.
Participation
in the EPSun program requires
time, effort and financial resources, but it’s a well worth
investment. Annually, we generally participate in
approximately 4-5 local tournaments, a winter local league,
a fall local league, and a summer league. Travel typically
consists of AAU sanctioned and NCAA certified tournaments
ranging from Southern California to Dallas and Houston
Texas. AAU National tournaments are generally held in the
east coast for a period of 10 consecutive days.
